About Megan

Mentor. Counsel. Grow.

It’s no coincidence that my initials make up some of my favorite areas to explore. Equally, I don’t believe it’s an accident that I’ve landed in “the city of bridges.” Building relationships, discovering potential, and tending to others’ futures is my passion. Whether you’re starting the college search process, entering the full-time workforce, or looking to move in a new direction, I would love to support you through your transition.

I have over a decade worth of experience counseling college applicants from high school through doctoral programs, watching young adults on the precipice of some of the most impactful experiences of their lives. Working primarily with artistic students has taught me the real gravity of identity-based decision making and I’ve found an empathetic and curious practice around discovering each student’s “why” for the path they pursue. Even working with applicants further in the application and admission process (graduate students both masters and doctoral, MBAs, and more) there is broad unease, a lack of clarity on what committees want, and stumbling blocks that any applicant can trip over when trying to “impress” or be the “perfect” applicant. We’ll dig in more to some of these themes and anxieties, once we begin our work together.

As a mentor, I’ve found helping young professionals and recent graduates craft resumes/cover letters and prepare for interviews has yielded resounding success. Through this, I’ve identified a market that is underserved and overlooked. Coming from a background in music, there’s a dearth of information surrounding how to turn academic and specialized skills into a resume bursting with transferable elements. It’s time to shine an (affordable) light on the people not destined for “traditional” careers in engineering, business, tech, etc. I’m here to support those with a zeal for the non-profit and higher education world. With opportunities brimming at every turn, it can be easy to know where to look, but hard to get attention on your materials. I’ve seen the same mistakes play out in cover letters and resumes for years and I’m ready to guide those who are early in their careers in this sector.

If you can’t already tell, I love to work with people at the early stages of their academic exploration and careers. Easing anxiety around processes, tapping into vulnerability, and bringing the stories that make up who YOU are to light, is my focus. I help you dig deep, leverage your experiences, and bring your most authentic self into focus. My goal is finding you a good fit, not a brand, a dollar amount or what will make other people in your life the most content. With Authentic Advising, the focus – no matter what stage you are in your life – is on you and only YOU.

Sometimes I’ll say things like “we’re going to manifest that acceptance” or “we’re going to put that energy out into the world for the offer.” I don’t bring all my woo-ness to the table, but I strongly believe in being confident and brave enough to name and put in the work for what you want. It sounds cheesy, but I’m all in on manifesting and dreaming the truest most beautiful next step for YOU.

Creative. Authentic. Curious.

If this sounds like you, I think we’re going to get along just fine.
